Appetite suppressants · Arlington & Waco, TX

Phentermine, prescribed and monitored by a physician

Phentermine is the appetite suppressant we prescribe most. Every patient gets an exam, blood work and an EKG before the first prescription, and regular check-ins after.

We can usually see new patients within a few days. Call the office you prefer.

What phentermine is

Phentermine is a prescription appetite suppressant. It helps you feel less hungry so it is easier to stick with a lower-calorie eating plan. It works best as part of a full plan with nutrition guidance, activity and regular visits, which is how we use it.

Who may qualify

  • Adults with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more
  • Adults with a BMI of 27 or more and a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or type 2 diabetes
  • People who pass the exam, labs and EKG at their first visit

Your provider makes the final call after your first visit.

Who should not take it

  • Anyone with a history of heart disease, stroke or uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • An overactive thyroid or glaucoma
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Use of certain antidepressants (MAO inhibitors) in the last 14 days
  • A history of drug misuse

Tell your provider about every medication and supplement you take.

How monitoring works

Before you start

A face-to-face exam, a full blood panel and a baseline EKG. Nothing is prescribed until a provider has reviewed them.

Every visit

We check your weight, blood pressure and heart rate, ask about side effects and adjust your plan.

Every year

Updated labs and EKG so your plan stays safe as your health changes.

Common side effects

Most are mild: dry mouth, trouble sleeping, a faster heartbeat, constipation or feeling jittery. Call your office if anything bothers you. Get emergency care for chest pain, shortness of breath or fainting.

What it costs

$295

First visit

Exam, full blood panel, EKG and your written plan. A $50 deposit holds the appointment and counts toward it.

$120

Return visits

Check-in with your provider, including a Lipo-B injection when offered.

No insurance needed. Full prices are on the Fee Schedule. Ask the office about medication cost when you call.

Other options

Phentermine is not right for everyone. Your provider may suggest GLP-1 injections such as semaglutide, a combination plan, or hormone therapy if hormones are part of the picture.
